He said, “As we embark on a new stride for the transformation of the Lagos Water Corporation, it starts with our planning system and proper budgeting for the various departments, which will then culminate into complying with the procurement processes as established by the Procurement Law”.
“The Procurement Planning Committee and the Tenders Board are set up for the various departments of the corporation to follow due diligence process for specified needs and articulate justification for expenditure and for a new work attitude, we can’t be doing the same thing, the same way and expect a different result,” he said.
Tijani reiterated further that, the gathering also serves as a training ground for all Directors and their Assistants, saying “Part of the transformation is to have a knowledge-based organisation, that offers career development and best practices. So as a team, we must learn, unlearn and relearn.”
In her contribution, the Executive Director, Operations, appreciated everyone particularly the Managing Director and the Procurement Department as LWC is starting on a new note, as a team. She stated that as Procurement comes to the system, things must be done correctly, particularly documentation, as documentation is very crucial.
She enjoined Staff to differentiate Internal Memos from Submissions for contracts., noting that If you want to write an Internal Memo, please write correctly, if it’s submissions for contracts, the documentation should be in order and explicitly. In Engineering, documentation is very important and documentation should be right. Our loyalty should be to the State and the Accounting Officer”.
