while illegally dumping refuse at the Alimosho Bus Stop along New Ipaja Road.
Further investigations revealed that Nwakwo Patient’s residence lacked a designated waste storage facility, a critical component of the state’s waste management policy.
While the woman claimed to be registered with a Private Sector Participant (PSP) operator servicing the area, she was unable to provide any supporting evidence to verify her registration or confirm any payments for waste collection services.
Wahab took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the details of the incident, stating, “Further investigations at her residence confirmed the absence of a designated waste storage facility.
While the suspect claimed to be registered with the PSP operator servicing the area, she was unable to provide any supporting evidence of such registration or payment for waste collection services.”
In line with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017, which mandates proper waste disposal and management, the government has stated that Nwakwo Patient will be prosecuted.
Wahab emphasized that the prosecution aims to ensure compliance with the state’s waste management regulations and serve as a deterrent to others who may be violating the law.
The Lagos State Government has been ramping up its efforts to combat illegal waste dumping in the city, focusing on environmental sustainability and the health of its residents.
Authorities are urging citizens to adhere to waste disposal protocols and utilize designated collection points to avoid legal consequences.
