The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development in Lagos State, Mr. Kehinde Farouk Gbajumo, led top government officials on a follow-up working visit to Gracefield Island – a PPP venture between the State Government and Gravitas Limited.
The aim is to ensure safety and compliance in the built environment as well as restore the sanctity of the Lagos Master Plan and Approval Orders in Residential Schemes.
According to Gbajumo, the purpose of the follow up visit was to look into the mutual concerns regarding Gracefield Island and Ojomu Family Allocation Development at the end of Chevron Road in Lekki.
The Permanent Secretary, who engaged all stakeholders in constructive discussions, urged them to obtain and abide by all regulatory requirements and approvals for their land reclamation and subsequent development.
He reiterated the commitment of the State Government to curb illegal reclamation, conversion of land uses, unsafe and nonconforming developments.
He also frowned at the unwholesome attitude of developers who continue to pose threats to the environment through their disregard for orderly development in the built sector of the State.
“Developers found to be in contravention of stipulated regulations will be made to face the wrath of the law”, Gbajumo stated.
Other members of the delegation include representatives of the Office of the Surveyor-General, Lands Bureau, Office of Environment, Office of Drainage & Water Services, and Land Use Allocation Committee among others.
