The Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Lekan Fatodu, called for mass participation in sports, particularly archery that focuses on determination and dedication, just as he joined others in the Sport Skills Demonstration
Fatodu made the call recently at an Archery Demonstration held at the Zen Archery, Ilupeju, as part of the preparation for the commencement of a two-day Zen Archery Open Lagos Championship scheduled to be held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, between Saturday, 9th March – 10th Sunday, 2024.
He stressed that the LSSC is committed to supporting the growth and development of archery, aiming to transform it into a mass-participation sport in Lagos.
This resonates with the commitment and vision of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration to diversify sports in Lagos, bring out the best in sporting events and support rising stars like Oyeleke.
He said, “It was a fascinating experience trying archery for the first time today with renowned international archer and medalist, Emmanuel Oyeleke, and the incredible team at Zen Archery”.
“Archery is a sport rapidly gaining traction in Nigeria. Trying it out and learning the basics of the sport was an enriching experience that provided me with technical knowledge and insight into the art and sport of archery”, Fatodu added.
The DG, therefore, encouraged everyone to consider trying archery, saying “It’s a spectacular sport offering a unique blend of physical and mental challenges within a recreational and stimulating environment”.
