Lagos State has been ranked fourth among the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory on the 2023 Transparency and Integrity Index.
This is according to the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Integrity Watch, in collaboration with the MacArthur Foundation.
The index, which was released early this month, ranked the states in terms of compliance with the TII (Transparency 10 and Integrity Index) variables.
The comprehensive data scored Lagos State 52.75% in its overall metrics of transparency and integrity, coming only behind three other states.
This indicates significant progress in the State’s policy formulation and implementation, as well as strategic efforts to advance good governance.
The States are assessed on variables such as Website Integrity; Fiscal Transparency; Open Procurement; Anti-Corruption; citizen engagement/Responsiveness, and Human Resources and Inclusion.
This index measures the extent to which States and Federal Government Websites disclose information related to good governance within the public domain.
The data revealed that the TII score for the year 2023 witnessed an upswing, ascending from 58.74% to 61.32% in the current assessment period.
