The Lagos State Government has raised an alarm over a potential building collapse at the Mopol 20 Barracks in Ikeja.

This warning comes as part of an ongoing effort to prevent a possible disaster due to the dilapidated state of Block 3.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) is preparing for a swift emergency evacuation, followed by the controlled demolition of the building.

LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that the team assessed the building and found it in a highly dangerous state.

As a result, LASEMA has called for the immediate evacuation of both the building and nearby structures to ensure public safety. The agency has already dispatched a response team to the site to ensure a safe evacuation process.

Oke-Osanyintolu reassured Lagosians that the situation is under control and is being closely monitored by the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu administration.

The Lagos State Government is determined to carry out the necessary actions, including a preemptive demolition, to avert any potential disaster.

Residents and individuals near the area have been advised to stay calm and avoid circulating false information on social media, which could escalate public fear unnecessarily.

LASEMA’s proactive steps in addressing the situation are expected to mitigate the risk of any casualties or property damage.

The public is urged to cooperate with the authorities to ensure a smooth and safe resolution of the situation.
