Lagos State and the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, CCECC, have signed the contract for Phase 2 of the Red Rail Line under the Lagos Rail Mass Transit.
This was disclosed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who said due to financial constraints, the second phase would stretch from Oyingbo to the National Theatre instead of the Marina as initially planned.
The contract was signed by Managing Director of LAMATA, Mrs Abimbola Akinajo on behalf of the Lagos State government while the Chairman of CCECC signed for the company.
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday (today) commissioned the first phase.
The president arrived at about 12.10 pm and was accompanied by Governor Sanwo-Olu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Principal Private Secretary Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
He was welcomed by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and some other governors – Abdul Rahman AbdulRazak (Kwara), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Prof. Babagana Zulum (Borno), Hope Uzodimma (IMO), among other dignitaries.
