Lagos Police, Army create joint patrol to check personnel


The Lagos State Police Command and the Nigerian Army 9th Brigade have constituted a joint patrol team to check their personnel.

The team was formed when the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa visited the Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. I.E. Akpaumontia at the Ikeja Cantonment on Tuesday.

The patrol team is tasked with the power to arrest any service person violating the traffic regulations, such as driving against traffic or driving on BRT Lanes.

Any official of the police or army caught contravening the law would face disciplinary actions by the respective security agency.

The special unit is also established to put end to cases of confrontation or resistance by those caught in the act.

CP Owohunwa further solicited the commander’s support in the fight against cultists threatening peace and security.

In his response, General Akpaumontia gave assurances of the brigade to assist the police in possible ways.
