The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is making strategic moves to rejuvenate itself with the goal of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.
The party’s focus will begin with the upcoming Local Government Elections in 2025.
Comrade Daniel Alao, Chairman of PDP LGAs’ Secretaries in Lagos, made this declaration during a special meeting over the weekend.
The meeting, supported both financially and morally by Hon. Zamani Hassan Muhammed and Hon. Olubankole Omojola Wellington, was a call to arms for the party’s leaders and members.
Alao expressed that the PDP had learned from past mistakes and was now prepared to win elections for the benefit of Lagos residents. “This is the time for us to come together and win Lagos for the good of both indigenes and residents,” Alao stated.
He urged all elders and leaders within the party to stand united, putting aside their differences, and to focus on securing victory in the upcoming polls.
Alao emphasized that internal conflicts, which marred the party’s performance in the 2023 elections, must be resolved to avoid similar failures in future contests.
Speaking further, Alao acknowledged that the party had experienced setbacks due to members acting as moles during previous elections.
However, he assured the public that the PDP had learned valuable lessons and was now focused on achieving success in the 2025 Local Government elections. Alao pointed out that indigenes would be prioritized for positions, a move intended to solidify the party’s connection with the grassroots.
Alao confidently predicted that the PDP would make significant gains in the upcoming polls, stating that the party was prepared to take on the APC and would “shock” the ruling party with its new strategy and unity.
