The Lagos International Theatre Festival (LITF) is set to debut from November 15 to 17, 2024, uniting creative talents worldwide.
Established by Bolanle Austen-Peters in partnership with Lagos State, this inaugural festival aims to foster a vibrant community for thespians and promote excellence in the creative industry.
Renowned theatre director and producer Bolanle Austen-Peters leads the festival, supported by corporate leaders like First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Dorman Long Engineering, and the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts.
She emphasized the importance of the creative industry, stating, “Nigeria is blessed with imaginative creativity and abundant talents.”
LITF will be hosted at four major venues in Lagos: The National Theatre, Terra Kulture, Muson Centre, and John Randle Centre. Attendees can expect a diverse lineup of performances, including musicals and skits, celebrating African culture and storytelling.
The Lagos State Government is the lead sponsor, committed to supporting the arts and culture scene. Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, highlighted the festival’s role in showcasing local talent and bringing communities together.
First Bank of Nigeria, as the lead banking sponsor, reinforces its commitment to youth development in the arts. A representative stated, “This partnership allows us to contribute to nation-building and support the creative arts value chain.”
The festival will also feature workshops, masterclasses, and panel discussions for aspiring artists, alongside a vibrant marketplace showcasing theatre-related merchandise.
