JUST IN: Lagos State seals five markets

Five markets have been sealed by operatives of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), in collaboration with the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), have sealed five markets in the Mushin and Odi-Olowo Local Council areas.

The closure was is reportedly due to the markets contravening provisions of the 2017 Environmental Management Protection law.

The affected markets are, Awolowo Ultra Modern Market, Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye, Mushin.Ojuwoye Market, Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye, Mushin.Mushin Main Market.Daleko Market, Mushin.Odo Ashimowu Market, Mushin.

The closure is part of the government’s efforts to enforce environmental regulations and maintain public health standards.

Full details on the specific violations leading to the closure are yet to be disclosed.

However, in the last four weeks several markets in the state have been shut down over environmentalviolations, many of which have since been reopened, these include,, Oyingbo market, Ile Epo market, Ladipo market, etc.
