Due to the new covid-19 variant, Omnicron, Japan has on Monday, said that it would ban all new foreign arrivals from Tuesday.
According to Kyodo news agency, the Japanese government had earlier said it was considering reviving a blanket ban on foreign arrivals due to concerns regarding the new variant of the coronavirus.

Residents and citizens returning from any of the nine countries mentioned are required to spend 10 days in a government facility upon arrival.

The Geneva-based health organisation categorised it as a “Variant of Concern” two days later.
Meanwhile, analysis has it that the new variant could be more transmissible or that it could reduce the effectiveness of existing vaccines, although much remains unclear.
