Alhaji Hakeem Amode, the Publicity Secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has confirmed Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, known as Jandor, as the leader of the party in the state.
This statement was released on Friday in Lagos in response to the controversy surrounding Adediran’s recent announcement regarding his role within the party.
Adediran, who was the PDP’s governorship candidate for Lagos State in the 2023 elections, had declared himself the party’s leader during a meeting with former members of his campaign team and other party affiliates.
This declaration led to some party stakeholders demanding that he withdraw his claim to leadership and issue an apology.
Amode clarified that Adediran’s proclamation was valid, especially considering that numerous alleged leaders of the PDP had defected to other parties around the time of the 2023 general elections.
He emphasized that there had been no summons for Adediran to a meeting demanding an apology for his statements.
Amode said: “Nobody can deny that as the governorship candidate of the party in Lagos State in 2023, Jandor is now one of the party leaders in the state.
“His leadership does not affect the duties of the executive members of the party in the state.
“Why should Jandor be asked to apologise to the party for putting the records straight when those who worked against the party have not been asked to apologise and are even being celebrated?
“Someone like Jandor ought to be celebrated rather than condemned for keeping the flag of the party flying despite all the shenanigans that took place before, during and after the elections.”
