Jamie Carragher slams Tottenham midfield trio as a “disgrace” after their 4-0 loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final at Anfield
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has strongly criticised Tottenham Hotspur’s midfield trio, branding their performance a “disgrace” after their heavy 4-0 defeat against the Reds in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Anfield on Thursday.
Spurs had held a slim 1-0 advantage from the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but they were completely outclassed in the return fixture.
Despite the loss, Arne Slot’s side progressed to the final with a 4-1 aggregate victory, where they will face Newcastle United in the coming weeks.
Speaking on *Sky Sports*, Carragher expressed his shock at the lack of intensity from Tottenham’s central midfielders—Pape Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Yves Bissouma.
“When I looked at those three midfield players today, I thought they were a disgrace,” Carragher said.
“You’re playing a semi-final. First 15 minutes, half an hour, Liverpool will be on the ball, put you under pressure, but get after them, be aggressive.”
The defeat at Anfield raised concerns about Tottenham’s midfield resilience, with Carragher questioning their ability to handle high-pressure matches.
As Spurs prepare for the final against Newcastle, the team will need a much-improved performance to avoid a similar collapse.
