As the 2023 polls draw closer, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has stated that he is not desperate for power like he is said to be.

The former vice president, who has been vying for the presidency since 1993 emphasized that he is running to make Nigeria a better place.

Atiku made the statement in Abuja while receiving the endorsement of the Council of National Students Presidents of Nigeria for his presidential candidacy.

Represented by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Atiku said he has made a covenant with the Nigerian people to change things for the better.

“I’m not desperate for office. I’m running to change things. Under my watch, so many things will change. We need to appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari for insisting elections must be free and fair. We need to appreciate that move,” Atiku said.

He further warned Nigerians of the dangers of allowing fraudsters to take over power, particularly in light of the ongoing debate about the redesign of the Naira.
