Daniel Bwala, an aide to the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the backlash against President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi, for flying the presidential jet to watch a polo match.
Bwala said Seyi Tinubu worked hard for his father’s presidential position and hence deserves the treatment he is receiving.
Recall that Seyi had come under heavy backlash after he flew to Kano in a presidential jet to watch the finals of this year’s edition of the Kano International Polo Tournament.
Reports claimed that the presidential jet conveying Seyi Tinubu and his friends landed in Kano around midday on Sunday.
He was said to have been received at the airport by some officials of the presidency, the Kano State Government, and the Kano Polo Club.
He was thereafter chauffeured to the Usman
Dantata Polo Ground amid tight security provided by gun-wielding detachments of the Nigeria Police Force and the State Security Service.
After the final matches of the two-week tournament were played and awards handed to winners, the waiting presidential jet then transported Seyi Tinubu and his party back to Abuja, the nation’s capital, where he currently lives.
Reacting to the backlash, Bwala noted that those who allowed Seyi to use the presidential jet should be held responsible.
Posting on X, Bwala wrote: “To be fair to @Stinubu Seyi Tinubu, he is a member of the first family and has worked hard enough for this father @officialABAT Tinubu’s presidential position of today, I dare say more than 7 governors combined.
Besides, if all the people in this government who worked against democracy could enjoy same privileges, I do not think Seyi should be visited with indignation like that.
“Besides, he doesn’t have the power to just hop into the jet, somebody in the hierarchy of govt. Made it happen. Let’s rather point the fingers to the right direction.”
