Former Senator Andy Uba faces court on charges of alleged N400m fraud linked to securing an NDDC post. Trial set for February 2025.

Uba, along with Crystal Chidinma Uba and Benjamin Etu, faces allegations of defrauding a petitioner, George Uboh, of ₦400 million.

The charges revolve around a 2022 incident where the defendants allegedly conspired to mislead the complainant into believing they could secure the managing directorship of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for the said amount.

The claim was later deemed fraudulent, with one of the accused, Hajiya Fatima, still at large.

The charges, filed under sections 8 and 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006, highlight the seriousness of the alleged offence. The law prescribes stringent penalties for such acts.

The court has scheduled February 18, 2025, for Uba and the other defendants to enter their pleas.

This development adds to the growing scrutiny of political figures in Nigeria, with the case drawing attention to issues of corruption and accountability within the nation’s political system.
