The Department of State Security Services (DSS) has released the former EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, from its custody after 134 days.
According to a statement issued by DSS spokesperson Peter Afunanya on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, Bawa was freed on Wednesday night.
The statement reads, “DSS confirms release of former EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, a few hours ago (today 25th October, 2023).”
The circumstances of his release have not been publicly disclosed.
Bawa’s release comes after he was arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) on June 14, 2023, shortly following his suspension from the position of EFCC Chairman by President Bola Tinubu over allegations of abuse of office.
