Fire destroys property worth millions on Anibaba Road, Lagos, but no casualties reported

Property worth millions was lost in a fire at Anibaba Road, Lagos. LASEMA confirmed no casualties but significant property damage in the incident.

 

 

A devastating fire swept through a bungalow on Anibaba Road, inward Iyana School in Lagos State’s Iyana Iba area, on Monday, destroying property worth millions of naira.

The blaze, which started in the early hours of the day, engulfed a structure containing 10 rooms and two shops, causing significant losses to the residents and shop owners.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported receiving a distress call at approximately 6:44 a.m.

Damilola Oke-Osanyitolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed that the agency’s Dolphin Response Team from the Igando Base was activated and arrived at the scene by 7:08 a.m.

Upon arrival, responders found the entire bungalow ablaze, with furniture, electronics, and important documents among the property destroyed.

Oke-Osanyitolu stated that although the cause of the fire remains unknown, initial investigations are ongoing.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were recorded in the incident, and neighbouring buildings only sustained partial structural damage due to the quick response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

He noted that the fire was successfully contained, preventing it from spreading further.

spokesperson for Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, confirmed the incident on social media.

No casualties or injuries were recorded, and there was no active train service in operation at the time.

These incidents underscore the ongoing fire safety challenges in Lagos, where dense residential and commercial layouts make fire control complex.

LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service continue their vigilant response efforts to mitigate the impact of such emergencies on the lives and property of Lagos residents.
