FABE International Foundation, FIF, an environment-centred organization has launched a recycling project tagged ‘TidyNigeria’ across communities in Lagos State.

FIF on Thursday launched a recycling hub at Victoria Garden City, Lagos State, through the support Coca-Cola foundation.

In a statement by the organization, the recycling hub at VGC will be represented in four other communities in the state.

Being a coastal region, plastic pollution has been a major issue in the state and with the #TidyNigeriaRecyclingDrive, FABE hopes to encourage households and communities to subscribe to the intentional and proper sorting of waste.

The President of The Coca-Cola Foundation, Saadia Madsbjerg, said: “This grant will support local communities in Lagos to better manage waste as we collectively journey towards a zero waste society, globally, one community at a time.”

In his statement, some TidyNigeria hubs will be suited inside the estates, and communities and will operate as a community-led and community-inclusive hub selected to meet the organisation’s ambitious target recovery of 600 tons of post-consumer packaging.

This will encourage waste distribution and sorting from point of source and offer consumers the convenience and accessibility to recycling their household waste in a Tidy Nigeria Recycling Hub.

Everyone in the community can drop off their PET bottles, cans, and cartons from various households, and communities, and be rewarded immediately through the #EcoShop.

This inclusion will allow Tidy Nigeria Recycling Hub users to be compensated with cash or value to support their social needs.

FABE foundation noted that it is focused on promoting and creating eco-conscious communities by engaging youths and everyone in the society to create sustainable eco-solutions to problems impacted by climate change affecting people’s health in the environment.
