The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has announced a crackdown on unauthorized buildings and irregular property developments in Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory.
This initiative aims to enforce compliance with building regulations, affecting several estates in both regions.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the FHA stated that it would begin regularizing property documents for allottees who constructed buildings without proper approval or deviated from original plans.
The initiative aims to provide an opportunity for property owners in FHA estates to rectify their documentation.
“The exercise will benefit allottees in FHA estates who built without approval or engaged in unapproved land annexation, alteration of prototype houses, or deviation from approved building plans,” the statement explained.
In Lagos, affected estates include Festac Town, Gowon Estate, Isheri Olofin 1 and 2, Satellite 2 Navy Town, and several others in the Egan and Esuti areas.
In Abuja, the scrutiny extends to estates such as Gwarinpa, Lugbe, Kubwa, Maitama, Asokoro, Karu, and Apo/Guzape.
The FHA encourages affected individuals to visit designated offices to regularize their property documents.
Those in Lagos should visit the Zonal Manager’s office in Festac Town, while Abuja residents should go to the Executive Director’s office at the FHA Head Office in Asokoro.
The FHA also warned that enforcement measures would commence following the expiration of notices issued through radio announcements, signaling their intent to act against non-compliant property owners.
