Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, stated that the new administration must promote national moral rearmament and reconciliation in the wake of the division brought on by the recently concluded general elections.
This he said had the potential to bring about healing and to assuage Nigerian youths who were angered by the elections’ shortcomings.
Obasanjo stated this while delivering his speech at a Conference in Abuja, organized by Nextier and the Ibadan School of Governance and Public Policy themed, “From Elections to Governance and Performance”.

He continued by saying that Nigerian governance now required unconventional thinking to save the country from its collapsing economy and enormous national debt burden.
He also said that there needed to be political action and commitment, as well as administrative efforts, to reform the public service and transform it into a unit that was capable of carrying out its duties.
Obasanjo mentioned that in light of the challenges facing the country, he was now “too old to keep quiet”, stating that he would continue to voice concerns for the benefit of the nation.
