The Labour Party has stated that threats from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will not change the processes put in place by the law at the Presidential Election Petition Court.
LP’s comment is in reaction to President Bola Tinubu’s recent remark that unseating him would “lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and alteration of the very intention of the legislature”.
Speaking via its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, LP hit back at the President, saying his statement is unnecessary given that the case is still in court.
Ifoh, while noting that threats from the APC cannot change what the law has put in place, added that Nigeria will not witness anarchy if the ruling party is removed from power.
“We insist that no amount of threat from the APC on the judges in the tribunal can change the processes and requirements that the law has put in place. It must be followed and that is the position of the Labour Party.
“Let me assure the APC and their leaders that if there were no absurdity, chaos, and anarchy when they forced their way into power, Nigeria will still witness peace when they are eventually evicted from power,” he stated.
