In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, Okpebholo stressed the importance of modernising EBS and ensuring it provides high-quality service to the people of Edo State.

He urged the station’s management and staff to maintain professionalism and even encouraged constructive criticism of his administration.

During the visit, EBS Managing Director Sulaiman Aledeh led Governor Okpebholo on a tour of the premises, highlighting issues such as unreliable electricity, poor road access, and inadequate studio facilities.

“You outlined your problems to me, and today I am here to see the challenges myself,” the governor remarked.

“The problem here must be solved. This station is Edo State government property and serves the people. It deserves equal attention as other government assets.”

Okpebholo announced plans to address the station’s power supply issues by exploring alternatives such as solar energy or procuring new generators.

He also expressed dissatisfaction with the poor road conditions leading to the station and pledged to prioritise their rehabilitation.

“It is either we rebuild or renovate the studio,” the governor added, emphasising his administration’s commitment to revitalising the station.

The visit extended to other projects, including inspections of roadworks at Upper Mission Extension by Aduwawa Junction, Obadan Junction on the Benin-Auchi Expressway, and Upper Ekenwan Road.

Governor Okpebholo’s proactive approach underscores his administration’s dedication to improving state-owned infrastructure, enhancing public services, and fostering a media environment that serves the citizens effectively.
