President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima met with Senate President Godswill Akpabio late on Wednesday over the nation’s lingering economic crisis.
The convergence was aimed at continuing consultations on how to jump-start the economy, with the meeting taking place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Also present at the meeting were the governors of Kwara, Lagos, and Ogun States, Ogun Hope Uzodinma, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dapo Abiodun.
The former governor of Kano State, Umar Ganduje was also part of the meeting.
Providing insight on the meeting, the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, Dele Alake, said part of the things discussed was finalizing arrangements on the distribution of palliative to reduce the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
The disclosure comes after the current administration proposed the distribution of grains and fertilizers to farmers also as part of measures to boost food security in the country.
