Nigeria’s President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has told Nigerians not to pity him because of the enormity of the work ahead.

He spoke on Sunday during the inauguration dinner and gala night.

Tinubu noted that the country is faced with lots of corruption, insecurity and many other problems, but he asked not to be pitied.

He said he asked for the job, saying he campaigned for it and that he had no excuses to give.

The president-elect assured that he would live up to expectation.

In his words: “We have corruption, insecurity and many problems confronting us… but don’t pity me. I asked for the job. I campaigned for it. No excuses.

“I will live up to expectation, I promise you.”

Tinubu will be sworn-in as the 16th president of Nigeria today at the Eagle Square. He replaces President Muhammadu Buhari who had just finished serving his two terms in office from 2015 to 2023.
