COVID-19: Nigeria records 422 new cases, one death on Tuesday

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Tuesday reported 422 new COVID-19 cases across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The agency also reported one additional COVID-19 related death.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official website.

According to the agency’s data, Rivers recorded the highest figures for new infections for the day with 178 cases.

Kwara followed with 87 reported cases of the virus followed by FCT – 57, Borno – 20, Kaduna – 17, Plateau- 14, Katsina – 12, Delta – 6, Edo – 6, Jigawan- 6, Anambra – 5, Ekiti – 5, Oyo – 5, Ogun – 3 and Nasarawa – 1.

The reported 422 new infections have brought the total number of confirmed cases to 249,154 while 220,195 people have recovered and have been discharged.

However, with one additional fatality reported, the death toll from the virus now stands at 3,086.

The agency added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
