On Wednesday, an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court remanded a 44-year-old trader, Anthony Odita, to a correctional center for allegedly assaulting both of his daughters.
Odita, who resides in Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos State, has been charged with sexual assault.
Magistrate O.A Layinka, who did not take the plea of Odita, ordered that he should be remanded in Kirikri Correctional Centre.
Layinka directed the police to send the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
The case has been adjourned until Dec. 6, so the DPP can advise.
Odita committed the offense at his home in July, according to Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, who is the prosecutor.
Inspector Lucky alleged that the two underaged girls, aged 12 and 9, were sexually abused by the defendant (Odita).
The offense, he said, contravened the provisions of Sections 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
