Apapa Port rewards staff, retirees at Employee Quarterly Merit Award

In a bid to reward hard work, dedication and the indomitable spirit of its workforce, the Nigeria’s premiere port, Lagos Port Complex (LPC) Apapa held its maiden Employee Quarterly Merit Award and Retirees Appreciation Day.

While speaking at the event, the Port Manager, Lagos Port Complex Apapa, Mr. Charles Okaga, said the award was initiated to recognise the outstanding contributions of LPC staff, reward their excellence, innovation and dedication to work.

Okaga said the award was anchored on some criteria including punctuality, dedication to duty, creativity and adherence to established dress code.

He said the award would motivate the employees to work harder and enhance productivity in the Nigerian Ports Authority.

He also appreciated retired workers of the port for the wisdom, experience and significant contributions they made to the system while in service.

According to him, it was important to recognise and appreciate hardworking employees in order to boost their morale and encourage them to reach new heights of success.

Also speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mr. Mohammed Bello Koko, who was represented by the Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Hon. Onari Brown, commended the port management for deeming it fit to celebrate its employees. He said the quarterly merit award would spur greater productivity at the port.

The NPA boss also commended the LPC Port Manager, Mr. Charles Okaga, describing him as a competent administrator who is concerned about the welfare of his staff.

The Employee Quarterly Merit Award for July – September 2023 was won by Michael Emmanuel of the Corporate and Strategic Planning Division.

Retired workers including Shehu Zakari Dauda (Procurement), Ohizu Bernard (Fire Service), Fulani Samuel (Harbour), Ejiogu Charity (Health), Igwe Oluchi (Human Resources) and Ogboto Edwin (Engineering) were also honoured at the event.
