Ex-international, Emmanuel Amunike has put forward an interest in the position of the next head coach of the Super Eagles, Lagos post has learnt.
Recall that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, declared the position vacant on Friday following the expiration of former coach, Jose Peseiro’s contract.
The NFF requested interested coaches to apply for the top job and also listed the requirements.
Amunike speaking with popular journalist Osazu Obayiwanab said, “Yes I did [apply to be the next manager].”
The former Barcelona star is one of the leading candidates to take over from Peseiro.
The 53-year-old has handled the Nigeria U-17 side and Tanzania national team in the past.
