The Akwa Ibom State Government has launched the Ibom Towers project in Lagos, promising to complete the 18-storey structure within 24 months to drive economic growth and job creation.
In a significant step towards economic diversification, the Akwa Ibom State Government has officially launched the Ibom Towers project, an ambitious 18-storey structure located in Lagos.
The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by notable figures including former Akwa Ibom Governors Udom Emmanuel and Obong Victor Attah, was performed by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Governor Umo Eno expressed optimism that the project would generate substantial revenue and job opportunities for Akwa Ibom, amidst Nigeria’s prevailing economic challenges.
“Anytime leaders invest in forward-looking projects like this, there are challenges, but a leader must look into the future,” he stated.
With the Ibom Towers project, both Akwa Ibom and Lagos are setting an example of unity and vision that can drive economic prosperity.
Governor Eno highlighted the significance of bipartisanship, asserting that political affiliations should not hinder collaborative efforts for economic growth.
He also extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his contributions to Lagos’s development, emphasizing the importance of patience during the ongoing reforms in Nigeria.
Situated in Victoria Island, Ibom Towers is envisioned as an iconic structure designed to strengthen investment and economic ties between Lagos and Akwa Ibom.
Governor Sanwo-Olu welcomed the development, noting Lagos’s pivotal role as Nigeria’s commercial hub.
He added a humorous remark about potentially investing in an oil well in Akwa Ibom, underscoring the states’ shared economic aspirations.
Imo-Abasi Jacob, Managing Director of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), provided an overview of the Ibom Towers project.
He described it as a premium development aimed at attracting urban professionals, featuring upscale apartments, gyms, pools, and smart building technology.
Jacob noted that the tower will not only serve as a luxury residence but also as a revenue generator, with income from property leases and tourism expected to enhance GDP growth for both states.
In their goodwill messages, various leaders celebrated the positive impact of Ibom Towers on revenue generation and employment opportunities.
The Oba of Oniru, Oba Abdulwasiu Lawal, expressed his satisfaction with the project, viewing it as a legacy of cooperation between Lagos and Akwa Ibom.
Similarly, His Eminence Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, President General of the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, emphasized the initiative’s potential to elevate Akwa Ibom’s profile internationally and encouraged local youth engineers to gain practical experience from the project.
Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, pledged legislative support for the project, asserting that landmark initiatives like Ibom Towers would enhance the state’s national standing.
Former Governor Obong Victor Attah lauded the launch, perceiving it as the realization of a vision to position Akwa Ibom as a key player in the real estate and economic growth sectors.
“This project represents the fulfillment of long-held aspirations for our state’s prosperity,” he remarked.
The Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, set the tone for the event by praising the state’s leadership and acknowledging that Governor Eno is building upon the legacies of his predecessors.
