Akume one of Nigeria’s most reliable citizens — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, felicitated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, on his 70th birthday, describing him as “one of the most reliable citizens” Nigeria can boast of.

Tinubu’s birthday message was contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, titled: ‘President Tinubu celebrates Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, on 70th birthday.’

“The people of Benue have subscribed to his sterling leadership principles and leveraged his remarkable talent for so many years because of what he has always stood for.

“He will be with you in the best of days, and even most reliably, in the worst of days. The country has been blessed with the dedication and sure-handedness of Senator Akume,” the President said.

Tinubu commended the former Benue State governor for his consistency and perpetual dedication to duty in coordinating government affairs.

He also cited Akume’s “rich portfolio of leadership experience and laurels as governor, minister, senator, and top-flight public servant, which he brings to bear in his current role.”

Ngelale further stated that “President Tinubu celebrated Senator Akume, extolling the temperance, affability, harmony, and stability he consistently personifies as he coordinates activities both within and with other arms of government, making himself accessible, focused, and dependable in bridging the divide between policy and implementation.”

While wishing the SGF good health and strength, the President implored him not to relent in his diligent service to the country.

Similarly, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, and his deputy, Benjamin Kalu, congratulated Akume, who clocks 70 today, December 27. 2023.

Describing the SGF’s 70 years on earth as impactful, the Speaker in a congratulatory message signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, said Akume had been using his God-given talent to provide good leadership to Nigerians.

“Senator Akume is among the few Nigerians who have been privileged to serve in the executive and legislative arms of the government at the state and federal levels.

“He has distinguished himself as an astute politician and a democrat who has nurtured other politicians over the years,” Abbas was quoted to have said.

On his part, Kalu described the former governor of Benue State as a consummate politician, patriot and democrat who was committed to the development of Benue State and Nigeria as a whole.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant, Press Affairs, Udora Orizu, Kalu recalled the SGF’s “sterling performance as the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.”
