In the wake of the victory by the Indomitable Lions in front of their own public, Cameroonian President Paul Biya kicked off the 2021 African Cup of Nations on Sunday. But the tournament has suffered its first hiccup.
According to reports, three Algerian journalists were violently attacked in Douala on Sunday night, a few meters away from their hotel. They were stabbed with knives.
While the circumstances of the attack are unclear at this time, they were robbed of money bags, passports and telephones.
The three men were taken to a hospital for treatment. One of the men is not in any immediate danger, but the second journalist who was attacked suffered more serious injuries.
