An engineer, George Kastina, 33, has been charged with assault and breach of peace in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court by the police in Lagos.
Kastina, whose residence has not been disclosed, is facing a two-count charge.
Although the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, Insp Olusegun Oke, the Prosecutor, told the court the offenses were committed on January 7, at 1.05 a.m., at Wamon Taofeek Street, Abule Egba, Lagos.
The prosecutor said the defendant slapped the complainant when he asked him what he was doing out so late at night.
The offences were in violation of sections 168 and 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate D.S. Odukoya granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in the same amount.
She also ordered the sureties to be gainfully employed with two years’ tax payments to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned until January 24 for further mention.
