Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Maroko Police Station has invited three students suspected of being involved in the death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni from Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos on Monday and they were taken to the SCID for questioning.
The identity of the three students who were interrogated at the SCID are unknown. According to reports, they were accompanied to the police station by their parents and lawyers.
Last Wednesday, news of Sylvester’s death went viral after his cousin, Perry Oromoni, claimed that some students beat him up in his hostel because he refused to join a cult.
School officials, however, denied the claim, stating that the boy complained of pain in his legs and hip as the result of an injury sustained while playing football.
Accordingly, the state government ordered the school to be closed indefinitely pending the conclusion of an investigation.
According to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, the outcome of the investigations will be made public.
Meanwhile, a peaceful protest led by Olumuyiwa Alani Bankole will be held at the Bar Centre, Ikeja at 10 am on the 10th to demand justice.
