Primate Elijah Ayodele, the head of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, on Friday issued a warning to Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, regarding the general elections of 2023.
Yakubu was cautioned by Primate Ayodele not to permit political parties to discontinue using the BVAS (Bimodal Voter Accreditation System) during the 2023 elections.
He also added that the INEC chairman must avoid interfering with the commission’s operations.
He spoke on the electoral recognition and transmission of results, stressing that INEC should not allow it to be removed in the election.
Primate Ayodele, in a statement released by his spokesperson Oluwatosin Osho, mentioned that the 2023 elections will determine whether Nigeria would remain united.
He noted that the INEC Chairman would play a significant role in that choice.
For the purpose of maintaining Nigeria’s unity, he counselled him to maintain his patriotism.
According to Ayodele: ‘’INEC must not allow BVAS to be removed for the 2023 general elections; the chairman must take his stand because this will give him an edge.
“The election is crucial, it will let us know if Nigeria will remain one, so the INEC chairman must be patriotic. He has a huge role to play’’.
