In a distressing incident in the Abijo area of the Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, a 17-year-old boy named Ojibe Chukwueze was found dead under mysterious circumstances.
According to a source close to the family, the tragic discovery was made by Chukwueze’s sister, who found his body by the roadside. The events leading up to the finding suggest that Chukwueze had left home after taking some money, but failed to return as expected.
Further complicating the matter, Chukwueze’s employer alleged that the teenager had stolen a sum of N100,000 from his shop. This allegation was communicated to Chukwueze’s sister, who was later informed by a neighbor about the grim sight of her brother’s body lying at Abijo bus stop.
Upon arriving at the scene, she found Chukwueze’s lifeless body alongside a container of sniper, a potent insecticide, suggesting a possible suicide.
The Lagos State Police, represented by the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has been initiated to clarify the events leading to Chukwueze’s death.
Preliminary observations noted foam gushing from the deceased’s mouth and nostrils, with the sniper canister recovered as evidence. Chukwueze’s body has since been moved to the Epe General Hospital Mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to further understand the cause of death and aid the ongoing investigation.
